Let Me Help You Bring Your Story to the Screen
As a filmmaker, I’ve met so many entrepreneurs with incredible stories—real, emotional, and deeply personal. The kind of stories that deserve more than just a social media post or brochure.
That’s why I started Dream Film.
I believe your brand isn’t just a business—it’s a journey. And I want to help you turn that journey into a cinematic experience that truly connects with people.
If you’ve ever thought,
“I wish more people could feel what I’ve been through.”
Then maybe… it’s time to show them.
Let’s tell your story—on film.
~ Captain DeniL, Founder and Film Director
Captain Denil’s Journey with Dream Film
Known as “Captain,” Denil made his mark in 2016 with Captain MPOS—a short film shot entirely on a smartphone. As Malaysia’s first microfilm to hold a charity cinema premiere, it gained national recognition and sparked his full-time pursuit of filmmaking at age 36.
In 2017, he faced challenges breaking into the market. Though smartphone films like Good and Beautiful and Autobiography of a Master drew attention, traditional methods still dominated. Refusing to give up, he formed his own production team and began integrating professional gear. Films like The Days Together with Popcorn and Runway: Prologue found an audience, with Popcorn premiering to a full house in Penang.
By 2018, he founded Dream Film Productions, expanded into commercial projects, and launched smartphone filmmaking workshops. That same year, he released Be a Star, a film on cyberbullying, which premiered on June 6.
In 2019, he co-founded 10 FILMS, producing ten short films for government agencies. The first, Scars—a moving portrait of a child from a broken family—won third place at France’s Three Acts of Goodness International Microfilm Contest.
Despite pandemic disruptions, his short films Be a Star and We Are Still Living won Excellence Awards in 2020 and 2021. Dream Film’s trademark was officially registered in 2020 and approved in 2022.
In 2022, Denil began work on OPPA—Malaysia’s first cultural education film tackling romance scams. Shot with support from the Royal Malaysia Police Commercial Crime Department, the film wrapped in May 2023 and is set for nationwide release.
From humble smartphone beginnings to national collaborations, Captain Denil now leads Dream Film’s mission of using real stories to create real change. His recent works—including The Turning Point, Make It Happen, and Connection—continue to inspire and resonate with audiences across Malaysia.
